Dr. Michael Reinhorn

About CutMeMicki: Dr. Michael Reinhorn, MBA, MD FACS

Dr. Michael “Micki” Reinhorn is a board-certified general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons who has built his career around a singular focus: improving how hernias are treated and eradicating chronic groin pain.

Based in Boston, Dr. Reinhorn is widely recognized as an expert in inguinal hernia repairs, abdominal core health, and workers’ compensation related hernia care. With more than 10,000 surgeries performed and hernia outcomes tracked through a national quality database, he remains one of the top surgeons in his field.

Technical excellence is only part of his story.

In his career as a general surgeon, Dr. Reinhorn recognized that hernia surgery was often treated as routine, despite how complex groin anatomy is. Rather than practicing broadly, he wanted to specialize solely in ambulatory hernia surgery.

His work and dedication have led to roles as a consultant to the American Board of Surgery, helping define national standards of care for inguinal hernia repair, a board member of the ACHQC (Abdominal Core Health Quality Collaborative), and as an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at Tufts University, where he helps train future surgeons.

The background

In the office, Dr. Reinhorn repeatedly noticed the same issue: many patients were confused, anxious, or misinformed about their diagnosis, treatment options, recovery, or pain management.

That gap in understanding is one of the main reasons Dr. Reinhorn started blogging.

This site exists to give patients clear, honest, experience-based information, without any bias. It’s a way for Dr. Reinhorn to help all patients feel educated and informed long before surgery, and supported long after it.
